I moved to NYC in March 2019 and spent the first six months in Rockaway Beach.  Renting a room, my art studio went into storage.  As I settled into the city, the need to create returned.  The lengthy commute on the A train allowed me to see how the subway is one of our public living rooms and I began to capture some of that with my iPad mini.  I would work for as long as I had a subject, somewhere between 10 and 30 minutes.

Moving to Brooklyn six months later, Iā€™m on the Q train with a shorter commute.  I tend to have my subjects for about 10 minutes. The pandemic forced me to purchase my first smartphone and let go of the flip phone.  Paintings are now primarily created on my Samsung S20.

I like the challenge of attempting to capture the energy and snippets of lives of commuting New Yorkers.
